Blowing the Whistle on Bad Tourism PR

2013-03-05 by Phil Butler

Polska logo

It’s no secret we’re about being open here at Argo Travel News. At all our news outlets, for the matter. The world needs so called “loose cannons” if we are to get better at everything we do. That said, a really bad public relations move on the part of Polska, Poland’s Official web portal and acting Director Boguslaw Becla befell us and them recently. I say “befell” out of consideration for our friends in Poland, the man is just plain rude.

Online Travel Sucking Wind with Consumers! Huh?

2013-02-27 by Phil Butler

OTAs suck

A USA Today story from yesterday pretty much tells on an online travel industry that has failed on nearly every front to deliver. Let’s face it, just because you can book a plane or hotel on Expedia, this does not equal the innovation and awe so many have spoken of these last three years. Tnooz to this beleaguered writer, online travel should be farther along by now in delivering on its promise.

Cheech and Chong - Pot Tourism? FAR OUT Man.

Talk about a potential for a tourism boom, if regulators in Colorado in the US have their way, travelers will soon be able to score pot just like a local. That’s right, once Colorado okay’d growing and smoking pot statewide, the logical next step was to simply make it legal for visitors too.

Affordable & Adorable Napoli: Five Value Hotels

2013-02-21 by Phil Butler

Grand Hotel Vesuvio

Napoli (Naples), or Neapolis in the Ancient Greek (“new city”). There’s hardly anyone who has not known the name of one of Italy’s most fantastic destinations. One of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on Earth, what was a Bronze Age center of trade, is today a metropolis of unique character. The mix of antiquity and modernity here, and the special character of the people, really make the place adorable, and a value too.

Wanderu Wants U 2 Take the BusBud

2013-02-17 by Phil Butler

BusBud

We’ve discussed the need for transportation companies to better engage via the web and mobile many times. So, news that BusBud has launched did not come as a great surprise. What Wanderu has done with fitting the need in this under-served market is interesting, if a bit far off practicality wise.

About 85 percent of the hospitality websites you can surf to right now need a redesign. Don’t try and find the math to justify my exactness here, just user your “mind’s eye” to scroll back through what you’ve surfed to, and past, during your web experience. Luckily the old saying “ugly is forever” does not have to apply for your business billboard on the web.
