According to a survey by the UK Post Office, Bulgaria is the cheapest holiday destination in Europe this year, followed by Turkey, Portugal and Spain.

EU President Meets Băsescu & Borisov Over Schengen
After many months of back and forth on the issue of Bulgaria and Romania joining the European Union’s open-border Schengen area, EU President Herman Van Rompoy told reporters recently an agreement should be reached by September. During a one day trip to both countries, Van Rompoy met with Romanian President Traian Băsescu, and Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov to table a number of issues.
Bulgaria Tourism 2012: Government Focus
Ivo Marinov, Deputy Minister of Economy, Energy, and Tourism for Bulgaria, predicts 2012 will see a 5 to 6 percent increase in tourism to his country. Marinov was on hand Monday for the signing of contracts totaling over 20 million Lev slated to increase the country’s travel industry.
