This month in Serbia: Pudarski dani (Vineyard Guards Days)
Coming September 18th through 20th to Irig, the “Pudarski dani” is one of the region’s most fascinating and authentic wine events. According to tradition, PUDAR is a vineyard guard pitted against starlings and other vineyard thieves of all sorts bent on destroying the harvest. Through a procession of rattling and using clappers like animated scarecrows, the guards war off those vermin. And just in time for the grape harvest in late September.
A Taste of Malta: Delicata Classic Wine Fest
Headed to Malta this month? Don’t miss the 10th annual Delicata Classic Wine Festival set to take place Valletta August 31 – Sept 2. Delicata, along with the Nadur local council, presents this wonderful gathering at the sleepy little village of Gozo, Nadur. The Ġnien il-Kunsill will be the scene of this year’s festivities.
