For travelers looking for an Autumn surprise. Macedonia’s Autumn Music Festivities are a perfect cultural and entertainment diversion. Held under the watchful eyes of the Skopje Culture and Arts Directorate, these highly traditional and expressive series of performances will take place between November 5th and 30th. A wide variety of programs and artists from Macedonia and neighboring countries will be present.
The Directorate of Culture and Arts established this festival back in 2000 to accentuate already existing traditional activities in and around Skopje. This year visitors can expect performances by the Macedonian Philharmonic and Macedonian Opera and Ballet, concerts around the city like brass quintet “Art” in the Macedonian National Gallery, the trio “Atanasov” in the Skopje Museum on November 10, and Ljupco Cedomirski on clarinet and Elena Atanasovska-Ivanovska on piano in Daut Pasin Amam on November 15 – among the many, many other performances.
The Autumnal Musical Festivities will also showcase the opera “Tosca” by Giacomo Puccini, directed by Ognjan Draganov of Bulgaria, and festivities will close with the international ballet performance “Kylian of the Balkans”, including artists from Macedonia, Slovenia, Bulgaria and Serbia, interpreting the choreography of world renowned Jiri Kylian of the Netherlands.
