According to news last week from airBaltic, the Latvian airline operated 3,235 flights in December of 2012, a number down some 8% over the previous year’s totals.

airBaltic Ramps Up Fleet With Bombadier CS300s
Last week airBaltic announced having ordered 10 new Bombardier CS300 airliners. The airline, based in Riga, Latvia, also purchased the rights to an additional 10 planes, according to their news.
Will airBaltic and Estonia Air Merge?
In airline news from the Baltic region, Latvia ministers seem to think that Estonian and Latvian national air carriers should merge. Valdis Dombrovskis, Latvia’s Prime Minister, and transportation head Aivis Ronis spoke recently of a Riga central hub serving both countries.
