On December 6th the 11th Honey and Bee Product Festival will open to visitors from around the world. Set within the Peace and Friendship Stadium in Faliro, the Greek honey festival will feature varieties of honey from all over Greece.
Small and large producers from across Greece will bring the finest products and attendees will get a chance to sample rare varieties previously unknown to the public. Georgos Stathis, who’s a member of the festival organizing committee, told AMNA:
“More than 300 honey and bee products producers participate in the festival. It is not simply a festival but a bee-keeping feast of high-quality Greek honey.”
Mr. Stathis also took the opportunity to invite the public to visit the festival so that they will become part of a movement to encourage for the thirty thousand Greek bee-keepers. He also pointed out that as many as 20,000 of Greece’s beekeepers are young people under the age of 35.
Also at the festival, the first High-Quality Honey Contest will be present the wealth and quality of Greek honey to consumers and to the business public.
The 10th Congress for Greek Honey and Honey Products will also be held in parallel to the festival, where acclaimed scientists, researchers and bee-keepers will present the latest developments to professionals involved in the field.
The 11th Honey and Bee Product Festival will run until December 8, under the auspices of the Agriculture and Food Ministry, while this year’s honored region is the region of northern Aegean.
