Swiss startup GetYourGuide has recently closed its B series round of funding, securing $25 million capital from Spark Capital and Highland Capital Partners Europe, the same investors that led GetYourGuide’s 2013 Series A funding round.
Founded in 2010, GetYourGuide is an already established web presence, and one of the most popular travel apps for tours, attractions & activities in Europe. The site lists over 25,000 activities, from dining to cruising popular European canals, and beyond. The company counts on professional local tour guides to share their expertise, and to offer discounted prices for tours to its community of active users. Although far from being a complete resource, for some of Europe’s largest cities, and over 2,400 destinations worldwide, GetYourGuide is a good choice, especially for travelers who don’t want to discover local attractions on their own.
“We’ve been extremely impressed with their growth curve over the last year, and we have decided to double down our investment with another $25 million,” said Spark Capital General Partner Alex Finkelstein explaining the decision to reinvest in the startup.
The new round of funding will enable GetYourGuide to strengthen its position on the market and to expand, according to Fergal Mullen, Partner with Highland Capital Partners Europe.
GetYourGuide CEO Johannes Reck said that the company will use the funds to expand its digital footprint in new markets and to expand its already strong mobile offerings.
