Greece is heading into a week shaped by three successive weather systems, bringing periods of rain, strong winds, and unsettled conditions across large parts of the country.
The first system is already in progress, with weather activity gradually shifting eastward. Through Wednesday afternoon, its effects are expected to be felt in eastern Macedonia and Thrace, as well as across the northern and eastern Aegean islands, the Dodecanese, and Crete.
Two additional waves of unsettled weather are forecast to follow. The second is expected during the Wednesday–Thursday period, while a third system is likely to impact the country over the Saturday–Sunday weekend.
The highest rainfall totals this week are anticipated in western Greece, eastern Macedonia and Thrace, the eastern Aegean, and Crete. Winds will generally blow from southern directions, creating locally challenging conditions at sea. Exceptions are expected on Tuesday in the Ionian Sea and again on Sunday in both the Ionian and Aegean, when winds will shift to northerly directions. On Thursday and Saturday, gusts may locally reach 8 Beaufort.
Despite the unsettled conditions, no significant cold weather is expected. Temperatures are forecast to remain 3 to 6 degrees Celsius above seasonal averages, limiting snowfall to higher mountainous areas only.
In Attica, conditions are expected to remain mostly dry, with a higher chance of rainfall on Thursday. Daytime temperatures will hover around 15–16°C.
According to the latest forecast data, February is set to begin with relatively mild weather, continuing the pattern of above-average temperatures.
