News today from Slovenia’s Tourism Board reflects on initiatives there to broaden the alpine country’s tourism horizons, and a bit of the stress deep recession can cause. We received a press release telling of the so called 2nd Days of Slovenian Tourism that took place this week at the fabulous Radenci Spa (image below). A sort of gathering of travel experts, the meetings hint at the country’s staggering economic woes reflected not only in the news, but the effectiveness and methods to attract tourists.

Maribor 2012 Presents Homage to Stravinsky

Coming this Friday to Maribor, Art Director of SNG Maribor Ballet, Edward Clug, will stage Hommage a’ Stravinsky, a modern ballet creation. To celebrate the 130th anniversary of the great composer’s birthday, the Maribor Slovenian National Theater will host this synthesis of the Stravinsky ballets Petrushka and The Rite of Spring.

A few days ago we covered the upcoming Maribor 2012 and its place as one of the towns chosen to be the European Capital of Culture next year. In keeping with Argo Travel’s image and media focused core value, we contacted the Slovenia Tourism Board about more images. Hotel Terme Tuhelj Begins 12 Million Euro 4 Star Hotel

In hotel investment news from Croatia, Hotel Terme Tuhelj is building a new 4 star accommodation at Tuheljske Toplice, outside the village of Tuhelj. The new hotel will boast a convention center and very high 4 star amenities, according to hotel spokespersons. At an estimated outlay of €12 million euro, it will also be one of the city’s biggest construction projects in some time.

Slovenia Hosts World Rowing Championships 2011

Getting ready on Lake Bled

In Summer festival news from Slovenia, coming up in August, the World Rowing Championships will be hosted at Lake Bled this year.  This will be the third time Slovenia’s most famous lake has hosted the prestigious event, but the first in some 22 years. The world’s greatest rowers will compete between August 28 and September 4th.
