The nonprofit cultural organization artefact Athens announces the opening of All Aboard, a contemporary art exhibition curated by Kostas Prapoglou and hosted at Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” from October 10 to November 9, 2025.
Bringing together 40 artists from different generations and countries, All Aboard marks the first time in Greece—and one of the few worldwide—that a large-scale art exhibition will unfold inside a functioning international airport. The chosen venue is the Express Facility, a building parallel to the airport’s western runway.
A Crossroads of Travel and Imagination
The airport, already a space of departures and arrivals, becomes here a site of artistic reflection. Waiting areas and corridors are transformed into places where stories of separation, transition, and return are inscribed. In this in-between zone—without beginning or end—time becomes elastic, and art expands awareness.
Greek and international artists present installations, sculptures, videos, paintings, and performance works that animate the building as an “archive of suspended intentions.” The roar of aircraft engines and the rhythm of boarding announcements serve as a poetic backdrop, interacting with the artworks and highlighting the traveler as a fragmented, quantified figure under constant observation.
All Aboard focuses not on the destination but on the interval. Travel is explored as an allegory, as an inner journey where identity reshapes itself, space becomes a repository of memory, and art invites the visitor to reconsider their place—not merely as a passenger, but as a co-creator of an existential landscape.
With this project, Athens strengthens its position on the international cultural map, turning a piece of public infrastructure into a vessel for dialogue between artistic practice, society, and public space.
