Aeroflot’s Pobeda set to take off
In air travel news, Russia’s Federal Aviation Agency has granted Pobeda, the low-cost carrier subsidiary of Aeroflot, its operator’s certificate and air transportation licence. The award of the documentation, under Russian legislative rules, allows the new low cost airline to begin ticket sales as of November 11.

Aeroflot to launch flights Georgia and Moldova
Beginning October 26th Russia’s Aeroflot will launch regular flights for routes in between Moscow — Tbilisi — Moscow and Moscow — Chisinau — Moscow. The airline intends to launch daily flights to the Georgia capital using the Airbus A320 from Sheremetyevo Airport Terminal D.
Lufthansa pilots threaten further action
Lufthansa pilots have given notice they may yet take further action against the airline’s failed bid to end their strike. The court in Frankfurt ruled yesterday in favor of the pilots, saying there were no legal grounds for Lufthansa’s action.
Norwegian tops passenger numbers for September
Norwegian, one of Europe’s leading budget airlines, has just announced their September passenger figures. According to their news, the airline ferried some 2.2 million passengers in September 2014, which was an increase of 16 per cent over the previous year.
Finnair adds Croatia and other 2015 destinations
According to news from Finnair, the airline will be launching flights to Split in Croatia starting in May of next year. The twice weekly (Tuesdays and Saturdays) flights will operate with the A320 aircraft, according to the airline.
Air France gives in to pilots
Pilots striking against Air France over a proposed expansion of the airline via subsidiary Transavia have apparently won. Air France and KLM have now announced their intention of dropping the Transavia Europe operation.
Air France strike grounds half of flights
Air France has said more than half the airline’s flights will have to be grounded on account of a week-long pilot’s strike. The airline’s plans to start its own low cost carrier are at the center of the dispute that had crippled the airline this morning.
Ryanair Takes Deliver of First New Boeing 737-800 NG
Earlier this week Ryanair announced having taken delivery of the first of its 180 new Boeing 737-800 NG order. The deal, worth and estimated $16 billion, saw the first plane touch down at Dublin Airport, flown in from Boeing Field, Seattle, by Ryanair Chief Pilot, Capt Ray Conway.
