Earlier this week Lithuanian Ambassodor to the UK Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė met with David Curtis-Brignell of the Tourism Society there to discuss joint tourism promotion between the nations. With Lithuania being at the forefront where Presidency of the EU Council is concerned later this year, it’s apparent many European nations will want to re-discover Lithuania.

Croatia Flux: Airline Strikes, Railway Disenchantment, and Smugglers, Etc.

As the Croatia Airlines strike heads into its fourth day Croatia’s Minister of Transport, Sinisa Hajdas Doncic (below) has said the carrier may go bankrupt if a restructuring plan set in motion is off the table. Meanwhile some 200 Railway Workers Union members protested outside government offices in St. Mark’s Square in Zagreb on Wednesday. By the looks of things Croatia is headed to EU membership carry some unclaimed transportation luggage.

Macedonia’s Prime Minister Sets Cornerstone for Hilton Skopje

The world’s best known hotel chain, Hilton just signed a franchise agreement with Stone Bridge Hotel to begin construction of Double Tree by Hilton Skopje. The new hotel to be situated along the river Vardar, will feature 170 rooms and cost in the neighborhood of €30 million euro, according to the news from Macedonia.

Croatia Airlines Strike: Day Two Cancellations

Despite assertions partner carriers would take up their slack in the even of a general strike, Croatia Airlines cancelled 22 flights on account of aircrew and pilots walking out. Today is the second day of a strike versus the airline over layoffs and pay cuts strikers say they cannot overcome.
