Greece hopes to elevate tourists’ experiences by introducing mAiGreece, a cutting-edge app designed to be a personalized travel companion. This innovative app, set to go live on June 10, 2024, was unveiled by Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni and Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou at the National Gallery in Athens on Monday, June 3, 2024.
“We are making the most of the tools that technology offers to upgrade the tourist experience in Greece,” Kefalogianni said.
In the initial stage, the Greek National Tourist Organization’s international offices will promote the application, complemented by a distinguished event at Athens airport.
Personalized Recommendations at Your Fingertips
mAiGreece harnesses Artificial Intelligence to present tourists with detailed and tailored information, ensuring an enriched stay in Greece. The app’s intuitive interface allows users to interact seamlessly through natural language, whether written or spoken.
With the integration of geo-location technology, mAiGreece customizes its suggestions based on the user’s specific location. Visitors can set up profiles highlighting their interests—be it arts, beaches, or diverse categories—guaranteeing that the information they receive matches their preferences.
The app is enriched with visual media, aiding users in comprehending details about Greece’s renowned landmarks and tourist spots. From attractions and museums to archaeological sites and Blue Flag beaches, mAiGreece offers in-depth data. It also provides crucial information on hospitals, health centres, police stations, and embassies, complemented by content from visitgreece.gr.
Safety and Accessibility for All Tourists
For enhanced safety, mAiGreece includes an emergency feature with a 112 button that sends an SMS containing the user’s location to the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection’s operations centre.
Supporting 31 languages, including all 24 official EU languages and additional languages such as Albanian, Chinese, Japanese, Turkish, Hebrew, Arabic, and Korean, mAiGreece ensures that tourists can navigate Greece comfortably in their native tongue.
To promote its widespread use, mobile phone providers will send arriving visitors an SMS with a link to download the app. mAiGreece will be accessible for free on smart devices via the App Store and Play Store.
Earlier this year, Greece unveiled MyCoast to empower beachgoers to report violations of beach access regulations, specifically the unauthorized placement of umbrellas and sunbeds on the coastline.
