Paris, London, New York, or even a Caribbean cruise, what’s the one thing all vacations have in common? The place a traveler stays after arrival, for one. Argo Travel News went far afield today in search of the extraordinary. After all, while we seek pattern and commonality in travel, many times – isn’t it the “unique” that is so often missing? White Line Hotels may have an answer.
Thin Line of Distinction
I won’t describe how I went about finding White Line Hotels. Let’s just say my digital adventure quotient is up there with Indiana Jones, and leave it at that. For the traveler though, finding any website ranked nearly 2 million by Alexa can be a challenge – but site rankings cannot always express excellence. Especially not a superb notion – this is what the developers at White Line have, a superb notion of what your hotel should be like. Let me illustrate.
Let’s break this down simply. You won’t find the hotels partnering with White Line Hotels sitting up there at the top of some Expedia clone website. Nor no the front page of Tnooz either. And, the average traveler might never do more than drive by some of them in their taxi through Korčula, Croatia (for instance). But, most travelers have already stumbled across such hospitality treasures – you know, no that rainy night near Prague (or anywhere Europe), caught out late, in the country side – you stayed at some warm, wonderful, and unique spot a time or two – unexpectedly – no? Sure. Well, I did a bit of research here, White Line Hotels is abiding by their website and concept dogma:
“Hotel star ratings, or how much money the hotel cost to create has little credence for us, it is rather more the soul or even the simplicity of the place. Original artworks or the cheeses and freshly baked breads served for breakfast, the local soaps in the bathroom, the handmade rug and bespoke furnishings or the intelligent use of the building – these are crafted elements that depict difference and importance.”
Right There In Black & White
Research, you said? Yes, I looked into several factors that indicate excellence, not the least of which is my own ability to assess websites – and accordingly, the people behind them. White Line Hotels has offered what I consider a cutting edge hospitality tool here. Crisp (in tech world lingo this mean Apple iPad to the point), rich (this means value graphics and text), and unambiguous while still being artsy (cool). Then the “drilling down” into the subject matter – Lešić Dimitri Palace has a tailored web presence too, it’s all about brand online, you know. Yes, they’re on Facebook too.
Does the place live up to White Line’s cool breezes and fine cheeses dogma? Yes, at least according to the professional reviews (I don’t trust TripAdvisor). The only thing I could find wrong about the place were there tiny images and lack of photographic media visibility (no one has marketed their images). White Line Hotels lays it all out, right there in black and white.
Can Ya Tell We Like It?
Reading and clicking about on the White Line Hotels listing for this great hotel, the reader (traveler) is almost constantly met with surprise. The text is so well written (and I know), it bridges the gap between super detailed description (which is why some hate my writing) and Google-like minimalist curtness – in short, the site gets to the point with color. Then you find the blog – another flawlessly useful element set inside this travel portal. I know, I sound a bit like an English wine critic here, but experience this yourself, you’ll see. Oh, and they do have a Re-Tweet button too!
Edgy. I guess this is the best way to sum up what White Line Hotels engages us with. I must say too, despite my rave reviews of their online portal so far, no website is perfect. Try to find the faces or the people behind this unique company – and you’ll get frustrated. If there is a face of the company on the website, my snow blindness over their creativity caused me to miss-em. But, the clear message on the landing page pretty much says it all for WLH’s, they’re a “Genuine Resource for One-of-a-kind hotels and collaborators.” Great job guys, now hire a marketing crew.
