According to news from the Azerbaijan tourism sector, Netherlands based Royal Imtech NV announced their Turkish subsidiary AE Arma-Elektropanc will provide technical solutions for the new Shahdag Hotels project in Gusar.
The project, what is to be the largest Winter and Summer touristic resort in the world, will see the Netherlands company providing hotel and associated areas with energy, electrical, and mechanical solutions. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Azerbaijan has already created what amounts to the largest resort of the type in area, a space of 50,000 plus square meters has already been developed in Gusar. President Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva recently reviewed the final phase of the project (image above and below right).
PAS’HA Construction, in collaboration with ReardonSmith Architects, are the lead developers on a project touted as the “Pearl of the Azerbaijan tourism industry.” And with year round snow making capabilities, it seems safe to assume the ministry is not far off in their projection. Begun in 2009, at a projected cost of some €4 billion euro, the 2058 hectare project is situated inside Shahdag State Park.
The resort is scheduled to open in December. Guests can expect to enjoy not only skiing, but tennis courts, football and basketball venues, an aqua park and pools, entertainment and gaming facilities, as well as hiking, horseback riding, and mountain climbing attractions too. According to most reports the resort will be capable of handling some 5000 guests per day.
