Coming to Łódź May 9th, the 15th International Triennial of Tapestry is the oldest, biggest and most prestigious
exhibition promoting contemporary fiber art. Running through October at the Central Museum of Textiles, the exhibition is also one of the most unique events in Europe.
The Triennial is an exhibition and a competition that takes place every three years. Works and artists are selected from consultants from individual countries participating, where exacting criteria are examined. This year’s edition includes 135 artists from 46 countries including: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Chile, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Spain, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Japan, Canada, Columbia, Costa Rica, Lithuania, Latvia, Mexico, Moldova, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Poland,
Portugal, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine, the USA, Hungary, Great Britain and Italy.
A jury of international experts will also select winners of the competition, to be announced at the opening of the exhibition. The event is a presentation of the latest developments in the field of artistic textiles all over the world. The genres of traditional wall-mounted tapestries, along with sculptural three-dimensional forms, and even woven installations will be included. The fifteenth edition of the International Triennial of Tapestry is accompanied by 96 events taking place in Poland throughout 2016.
