We’ve all had a case of pre-flight jitters, but a passenger on a recent Budapest to Heraklion flight took it to a whole new, mind-bending level.
According to a viral (and since deleted) Facebook post, this traveler got cold feet right at the gate. He sat on the tarmac stairs, refused to board, and was officially removed from the passenger manifest. Minutes later? He changed his mind, ran back, and the crew miraculously got the captain’s permission to let him back on.
But wait, it gets wilder.
Mid-flight to beautiful Crete, he decided he didn’t want to vacation after all. He approached the lead flight attendant with a request: Can I fly back to Budapest on this exact same plane? He had no return ticket. No booking. Nothing.
Instead of kicking him off the aircraft in Heraklion, the crew allegedly kept him seated in the front row while the plane emptied out. Ground staff in Crete reportedly sorted out a return boarding pass, handed it to him without him ever leaving the aircraft, and let him fly back to Budapest. For free.
The Hungarian journalist who covered the story assumed it was an elaborate fake or a bizarre PR stunt. But in a plot twist that defies all logic, Wizz Air’s PR agency officially confirmed: Yes, the airline actually organized and paid for his return ticket.
The passenger has since deleted his post, leaving the travel world to wonder: Was this a genius loophole, a mental health crisis, or the greatest customer service flex in aviation history?
