Hungary’s 2016 Eurovision hopes remain kindled as Freddie stays alive to reach the finals as a black horse favorite. In an edition seemingly destined to go to Russia’s Sergey Lazarev, the rich voice of Gábor Alfréd Fehérvári’s (Freddie’s real name) “Pioneer” just may upset the song contest apple cart.
10 nations have been moved through to the final in Stockholm on May 14th. Those included are; Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Malta, the Netherlands and Russia. The odds on favorites at most betting spots are; Russia’s Lazarev followed by FRANZ of Sweden, but Freddie’s performance below is a strong contender as well.
The Hungarian singer is best known for placing fourth in the first season of the Hungarian version of Rising Star, is very popular domestically. It remains to be seen whether his good looks and stage presence, combined with the good lyrics of the song, can win the hearts of the Eurovision audience.
