In Summer festival news from Slovenia, coming up in August, the World Rowing Championships will be hosted at Lake Bled this year. This will be the third time Slovenia’s most famous lake has hosted the prestigious event, but the first in some 22 years. The world’s greatest rowers will compete between August 28 and September 4th.
The festival opened July 3, 2011 with Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 in E flat major, and will last till September 7, 2011.

The Ljubljana Gay and Lesbian Film Festival begins November 27 to December 5. Films screened at the festival are meant to promote tolerance and awareness.
