InterContinental Hotels Group has signed its first luxury hotel in Venice, Italy, the lavish 16th Century Palazzo Nani (current images) in the heart of the city. Scheduled to open at the start of 2018, the new IHG property will run under a franchise agreement with Gruppo Cordifin and H.n.h Hotels & Resorts Management.

Situated facing the magnificent Cannaregio Canal, this historical property offers access to all the key landmarks, including St. Mark’s Square, the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco. The all new InterContinental Venice – Palazzo Nani, will eventually become a 51-key hotel, which will retain all the buildings former glory and decorative charm, while featuring IHG cutting edge hospitality features. The hotel is embellished with hand-painted alfresco ceilings and hand-carved wooden beams, not to mention a gondola load of Venetian charm. And the new amenities will including a wellness center, meeting facilities and a Club InterContinental Lounge, should only add to the guest experience. Robert Shepherd, IHG chief development officer had this to add:

IHG currently offers a luxury portfolio of more than 180 properties worldwide, with 32 hotels in Europe alone. The Venice hotel is the brand’s second addition in Italy, after the InterContinental in Rome.
