After becoming a big hit at Greek bookstores, Maria Thermou’s wonderful book “Dining with the Ancient Greeks” has now been published by Olkos Publications in English.
According to the news from Olive Magazine dot gr, the new language version targets the wider audience who have an interest in the role of food in antiquity. The book deals with gastronomy as a means of expression of culture, and of fine food ideas being a refined way of life. This version of the Maria Thermou classic was translated to English by Alexandra Douma, and carries the original synthesis of ancient texts, a tasty narration from the Cycladic and Minoan to the Classical and Hellenistic Era.
Author Maria Thermou animates for readers the wonders of food and conviviality, the use of exotic products, symposiums, the cooks and their recipes, and all other aspects that were integral parts of mealtime in ancient Greece.
Maria Thermou, who is a journalist by profession with a long successful career in culture and ancient cultural heritage, chronicles the authentic ancient Greek kitchen, recording the nuance and wonderful stories behind the fantastic Greek diet.
