This month in Serbia: Pudarski dani (Vineyard Guards Days)
Coming September 18th through 20th to Irig, the “Pudarski dani” is one of the region’s most fascinating and authentic wine events. According to tradition, PUDAR is a vineyard guard pitted against starlings and other vineyard thieves of all sorts bent on destroying the harvest. Through a procession of rattling and using clappers like animated scarecrows, the guards war off those vermin. And just in time for the grape harvest in late September.

Wizz Air announces new Riga flights
Low-cost airline Wizz Air has launched flights from Riga International Airport to Dortmund, Germany as of September 1. The Wednesday and Sunda flights will embark via “Airbus 320” aircraft, according to news from the airline.
Fraport Wins Ljubljana Airport Bid
Fraport AG, along with a consortium led by the Slovenian Sovereign Holding (SDH), have agreed to the acquisition of Ljubljana Airport (Aerodrom Ljubljana) in Slovenia. Winning the award versus international competitors, the consortium closed the bidding process on July 4, seeing Fraport selected to negotiate for the sale of Aerodrom Lubljana d.d.

Softronic Unveils New Hyperion for Romania
Romanian rail manufacturer Softronic has just announced a new prototype of its new Hyperion emu set to test along Romania’s main rail lines. The Hyperion has been developed by Softronic at the company’s Craiova plant to the south of Romania at a cost of around €5 million euro, the reports say.
