If you happen to be in Budapest this weekend, go to Mikszáth tér to enjoy authentic Hungarian cuisine, or international favorites. The “downside”… there will be only soup to sample, but the plus is that some of the best local and international chefs will cook it right in front of you.
This is the second edition of the festival, counting already among the most popular events of the spring. For three days, from Friday 11, till Sunday 13, you can taste authentic Hungarian goulash, vegetable soups, and fisherman’s soup, among local specialties. If you want to see how international classics compare to Hungarian cuisine, you will have the chance to choose between Italian minestrone, Vietnamese pho, Thai tom yum, Japanese miso soup and German beer soup, among many others. Also, don’t miss the traditional főzelék, a thick Hungarian vegetable stew made from potatoes, beans, green peas, spinach, squash, sorrel or lentils.
If you are not in the mood for soup, Mikszáth tér is surrounded by trendy restaurants, with terraces, ideal for people watching, but also for sampling other specialties from the region.
