Have you ever planned the perfect vacation down to the grain quality of the beach’s sand, only to find out your hotel room window faced the brick wall of another building or another undesirable view? Room 77, a new visionary Internet start-up, has created a web application and iPhone app that will show you the exact view you will get from your hotel room.
The view can make or break an otherwise good vacation, and Room 77 is betting users will love a tool that lets them know what to expect. Other features of the app include floor plans, room size, elevator proximity, and whether or not it is a connecting room. The app is designed for business travelers who might spend a lot of time in hotels and want quality experiences, and also for vacationers who might have saved up for years to afford a trip to Hawaii, only to find a less-than-desirable view from their hotel rooms.
Currently the site mostly features major US cities, such as New York, Chicago, and Washington D.C., but the owners hope to eventually expand internationally. In order to provide travelers with its 450,000 available room views, Room 77 aggregated data from satellite footage that included latitude, longitude, and altitude, with the end result of giving users a clear image of their view. To make sure you get the best travel experience, they also talked with hotel staff to get tips on how to get the best rooms.
Room 77’s technology is live and available now from the company’s website and also available for the iPhone via Apple’s App Store. It currently contains data on over 450,000 hotel rooms in 16 cities.
