The cultural association in Kavoussi is set to host an event titled “Ode to the Olive Tree,” supported by the Region of Crete. This enchanting evening will take place on Saturday, September 21, at 9:00 p.m. amidst the ancient olive grove in Kavoussi, inviting locals to enjoy the performance without charge.
The acclaimed Loudovikos of Anogeia and talented artist Stella Seiragaki will grace the stage, weaving melodies that tribute the storied olive tree. Additionally, Emmanouela Margioula will captivate the audience with her theatrical monologue, “I Am a Tree with Green Tears.”

The event’s musical ensemble includes the soulful sounds of guitarist Dimitris Karamouzas and flutist Sofia Mavrogenidou, creating a captivating ambience for attendees.
The event’s theme revolves around one of the most massive and ancient monolithic olive trees globally, nestled in Azoria, a site enriched with archaeological significance. With remnants of Minoan settlements like Xerambela alongside Castle Hill and Azoria’s peak, this area serves as a poignant reminder of the ancient olive groves that sustained life across the region.
