The Economist released its Worldwide Cost of Living Report 2017, revealing the most and the least expensive cities to live in for expats and not only.
Eastern European cities Kiev (Ukraine) and Bucharest (Romania) rank among the top ten cheapest capitals, while Singapore remains the most expensive city in the world for the fourth year running.
The report, put together by The Economist Intelligence Unit, looks at 200 countries worldwide to determine the ten most expensive cities in the world, as well as the ten cheapest cities in the world, as well as economic changes, and other data. Besides Ukraine and Romania, no other Eastern European countries made any of the two lists. As the cost of living is always changing, you can expect a different top next year.
The Economist provides a full list of all the countries it covers here. The survey compares more than 400 individual prices across 160 products and services. These include food, drink, clothing, household supplies and personal care items, home rents, transport, utility bills, private schools, domestic help, and recreational costs.
