The National Meteorological Service (EMY) states that temperatures will start to rise over the weekend, reaching between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius in mainland areas and will climb even higher from Tuesday onward, pushing temperatures to extreme levels surpassing 43 degrees in some locations.
Additionally, dust from the Sahara is anticipated to return on Tuesday and Wednesday, particularly affecting the Greek mainland and the Ionian islands. This intense heatwave, with an undetermined duration, is originating from Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya in North Africa.

During the mid-afternoon, expect mostly clear skies with occasional thick clouds in the west, central, and north. These clouds could potentially bring local showers to mountainous areas.
The atmospheric conditions are likely to carry African dust over.
Winds in the Aegean will blow from the north at 3 to 5 Beaufort. Elsewhere, variable winds of 2 to 4 Beaufort will prevail, shifting to westerlies at 3 to 5 Beaufort in the afternoon.
Coastal regions will experience sea breezes during midday.
Temperatures will rise across the country, reaching 34 to 38 and locally 39 degrees in the Ionian and mainland islands and 31 to 34 degrees in other island regions.
