It’s a sure sign Spring is on for Turkey, the 8th annual International Tulip Festival started this week in Istanbul. Visitors to the festival will have the awe inspiring view of some 100 million tulips on display in this magical city. Did you know that tulips originated in Turkey and not Holland?
The International Istanbul Tulip Festival is an important symbolic festival, as it signals the start of a news touristic season there. Events scheduled about the city include special presentations at; Taksim Square, Emirgan Woods, Hidiv Woods, Göztepe Rose Garden, Büyük Çamlıca Woods, Sultanahmet Square, and Gülhane Park.
112 different varieties of tulips were planted across the city in parks, along thoroughfares, in flowerbeds everywhere. For the best view of some examples though, visitors are encouraged to visit Emirgen Park, one of the city’s biggest green spaces.
