Thomas Cook Group CEO Peter Fankhauser met with Greek Minister of Tourism Elena Kountoura recently at ITB in Berlin to discuss Thomas Cook’s plans for continued investment in Greece. The two talked about the company’s plans to expand Thomas Cook’s own-brand hotels under popular new brands such as Casa Cook and Cook’s Club.
Thomas Cook was only recently named by Horwath HTL as the biggest hotel chain in Greece last year with 48 hotels in Greece boasting over 8000 rooms in their European Chains & Hotels Report 2019. In the same report Greece was found to have grown revenues and arrivals to the country and is now one of the top 15 destinations in the world. Fankhauser offered this on his company’s plans:
“Greece remains an important destination for Thomas Cook and our customers. Greece has led the way in supporting us to innovate with our new hotel brands – the first two Casa Cook hotels and the first in our Cooks Club concept all launched on the Greek islands. This has helped us to move into the number 1 position as the largest hotel chain in Greece. “
The Thomas Cook CEO continued describing his company’s partnership with Greek hoteliers and framing a few of the extraordinary hotels including SENTIDO Port Royal in Rhodes, and SunConnect
Kountoura also talked about the importance of continued investment in turning Greece into a year-round destination, according to the reporting from ITB.
Here on Crete, Thomas Cook has the all new Casa Cook Chania slated to open next month. Situated on Kladissos Beach just west of Chania’s Old Town, the new family-oriented hotel is a classy well-designed boutique resort of 106 rooms decked out with interiors by Berlin-based studio Lambs and Lions.
