Right now in Singapore visitors have a special treat as the Lunar New Year Spring Festival takes place from January 15th through February 28th in Chinatown. This occasion marks the importance of family, and celebrates happiness.
At this wonderful time, in Singapore, citizens and visitors can enjoy some of the most festive and beautiful celebrations anywhere on the globe. It”s New Year, the year of the Rabbit – catch it in Singapore.
Preparations began for these celebrations more than a month ago, with decorations and arrangements in Chinatown and the Marina Bay are taking place. The biggest events taking place are River Hongbao 2011 (featuring the year of the rabbit motif) and Chingay Parade Singapore, both lavish celebrations of Spring Festival Singapore.
The River Hongbao 2011 festivities are sponsored by Singapore Press Holdings, Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations, People’s Association, Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Singapore Tourism Board.
According to the program, the theme for this celebration is that of “Passing on the Light”, or the significance of passing on cultural heritage, knowledge, wisdom to future generations.
