London based Mapmart, which operated as Alternative Travel and Turkish Riveria Golfing Holidays, failed as of April 9 according to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
The CAA took advantage of the failure to remind travelers of the dangers of not booking ATOL protected trips, and especially for the upcoming Eastern break. Richard Jackson, Group Director of Consumer Protection at the CAA, offered this:
“The collapse of Mapmart Ltd is a timely reminder of why it is so important for people to check they will receive an ATOL certificate when they book their holidays. Thanks to the ATOL scheme, the company’s customers will have peace of mind that their money is safe. ”
The CAA has published advice for those affected by the collapse of Mapmart Ltd. Claim forms and other information are available via the links provided here. UK holidaymakers should be aware too, not every travel company trading in the UK provides ATOL protection. For those interested in finding who does, please visit www.packpeaceofmind.co.uk.
