Occupancy rates and revenue per available room (RevPAR) are set to rise in 2013, a survey by Global Information (GII) revealed. For the global hotel industry the positive trends are more than encouraging, signifying recovery and a better year ahead.
The Global Hotel Industry Survey 2013: Emerging Trends in Technology, Sustainability, Health and Wellness Tourism by Global Information explores emerging trends in the global hotel industry and how key industry dynamics are set to change this year. Among other finds, the survey reveals that health and wellness tourism is giving the industry a new edge and driving business growth across the global hotel industry.
As a result of the positive forecast, travel intermediaries market, including travel agencies, tour operators, corporate travel houses, and global distribution systems (GDS), will also benefit from recovery.
The survey also reveals which countries lead in terms of travel and tourism industry competitiveness. According to the fifth Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report by World Economic Forum (WEF), Switzerland, Germany and Austria are the main leaders, followed by Spain, United Kingdom, United States, France, Canada, Sweden and Singapore.
