Laoutos, violins, mandolins and plenty of singing will take over the streets of Agios Nikolaos for World Tourism Day
Agios Nikolaos is getting ready to turn up the volume.
For World Tourism Day, the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos Tourism Department is organizing a traditional kantada through the city’s streets on Tuesday, September 22, inviting musicians and singers to join a single roaming musical παρέα.
The mission is to fill the streets with melodies, bring locals and visitors together through music, and showcase the warmth and hospitality of Agios Nikolaos with a healthy dose of Cretan musical spirit.
Musicians who play laouto, violin, or mandolin are invited to take part, along with anyone who simply loves to sing and is willing to lend their voice to the occasion.
There is no need to wait for a stage. The streets are the stage, the city is the backdrop, and the music will do the rest.
The organizers are hoping to create a lively musical group that can wander through Agios Nikolaos, serenading residents and visitors and turning an ordinary evening into something considerably more memorable.
Anyone wishing to join should confirm their participation by Thursday, September 10, 2026, by calling 6972116786 or emailing tourismos@dimosagn.gr.
So, musicians, tune those instruments. Singers, warm up those vocal cords. And everyone else, get ready to follow the music.
On September 22, Agios Nikolaos wants you to bring your voice, your instrument and your good mood. 🎶
