Romania’s Sinaia Mountain Resort Wins at 2019 World Ski Awards

Romania’s Sinaia mountain resort has been named Romania’s Best Ski Resort 2019 at the World Ski Awards, an event held this past weekend in Kitzbuhel, Austria.

For the third consecutive year, Sinaia has taken top honors in this category. Other nominees this year were Arena Platos Paltinis, Azuga, Poiana Brașov, Predeal, Ranca, Straja, Vatra Dornei, and Vidra Transalpina.

As for World’s Best, the Val Thorens resort in France took home bragging rights. Laax, in Switzerland, took home the award for the best resort for freestyle winter sports, and Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley in the United States was named the best ski hotel for 2019. Bulgaria’s Bansko was the best ski resort, according to the news from World Ski Awards.

World Ski Awards is a global initiative to recognize, reward and celebrate excellence in the ski hospitality industry. The event is the sister organization of World Travel Awards, currently celebrating its 26th anniversary.

Sinaia Mountain Resort is situated about 140 kilometers north of Romania’s capital of Bucharest. The resort offers skiing and snowboarding and sports a total of 17.9 km of slopes and 5 km of ski routes. There are 9 lifts, and the elevations are from 1,006 m to 2,090 m. The resort has 3.4 km of beginner slopes, 11.7 km of intermediate skiing, and 2.8 km for experts.
