Chania is looking to strengthen its tourism and cultural connections with Romania following a meeting between Mayor Panagiotis Simandirakis and Romania’s Ambassador to Greece, Carmen Ileana Mihalcescu.
The ambassador visited Chania City Hall as part of a formal visit to the city, with tourism and culture among the areas discussed for future cooperation.
The meeting focused on the long-standing ties between Greece and Romania and the potential for closer connections between their local communities.
For Chania, strengthening ties with Romania could foster greater tourism cooperation and deepen the city’s presence among Romanian travelers, while cultural exchanges could offer another avenue to promote the destination.
Both sides expressed their intention to maintain communication and explore more specific opportunities for future cooperation.
