Kalinderu Ski Slope in Bușteni Opens Today

Romania ranks among the top world ski destinations according to Trivago, with ski resorts in Predeal reporting the cheapest prices Europe-wide for winter sports enthusiasts- £46 per night in a standard double room in January 2014. Predeal is only 15 minutes drive from Bușteni, where the Kalinderu ski slope opens today.

Kalinderu is the first slope of the mountain completely covered with artificial snow. The slope is already covered with more than 30 cm of snow, perfect to slide down on your skis or your snowboard. The slope has a total length of 1500 meters, and perfect conditions to both professional and beginner skiers.

However, despite the fact that accommodation in Predeal is the most affordable in Europe, the ski passes for the slopes in nearby resorts are outrageously priced. Kalinderu alone is one of the most expensive slopes in the region: a daily pass is around £27, and the pass is not valid for any other slopes in Bușteni.

In Predeal, however, a daily pass, valid for all the resort’s slopes, is £28, a reasonable price for both Romanian and foreign tourists.
