The deal with Airbus will see at least 5 Α320’s delivered on an accelerated schedule, with the remaining 2 aircraft coming before early 2016. Each airliner will come equipped with the Airbus “Sharklet” fuel saving wing tip devices and will be powered by IAE V2500 engines. The newly designed “Sharklets” cut an aircraft’s fuel consumption and emissions. The new planes will also have extended flight range capabilities. Theodoros Vassilakis, Chairman of AEGEAN, had this to add:

“AEGEAN’s decision to take delivery of 7 new Airbus A320, shows its commitment to invest once more in the ongoing qualitative growth of the aviation sector in the country. The capabilities are increasing and the existing competitive advantange of the low average age of our aircrafts is further enhanced. We do everything in our hands to further increase the satisfaction of our passengers and certainly our competitiveness”.

AEGEAN operates 205 international routes, from 8 Greek bases. The airline carries travelers to some 120 destinations – 87 abroad, and across 32 countries. AEGEAN  is also a consistent SKYTRAX award winner. For more information on AEGEAN’s latest news, readers should visit their media center.
