Tripobox is for group trips what peanut butter is to jelly: a great flavor, that makes sense. The startup attempts to redefine group travels, by making planning and booking simple, social and fun. In their own words:
Tripobox facilitates social interaction among travelers and hosts, decision-making within the group, online group booking and individual payment between trip mates.
Still in beta, Tripobox is on a path to greatness, if they play their cards right. Like any self professed social business, it needs to engage with audiences, through unique, original content, insiders’ tips, and cool stuff. Of course, they also need to offer travelers an abundance of destinations to choose from. But the beta launched with only 8 cities to date: Miami, Chicago, Paris, Amsterdam, London, Barcelona, San Francisco and New York. Berlin is supposed to follow soon, and we can only assume that the number of destinations will grow exponentially, with the business, which already has a dedicated, talented team to back its efforts.
Tripobox was born in Barcelona, a city already featured among the 8 appealing destinations for group trips.
For each city, travelers can find and book hotels, search for restaurants, and choose from a wealth of things to do. Searches can be refined by applying filters, depending on user interest. For example, to find cultural tours of Barcelona, you will need to choose from the “Experience” filters: Adventure, Culture, Fun, Sport, Culinary, Entertainment and Relax. Here I’d also suggest a “Children” or “Family” filter, to show only those tours fit for this demographics.
The “Eat” section allows travelers to select only those restaurants that have a “children area” – which are also very likely to have a kids’ menu. But when it comes to picking a family-friendly hotel, the site still lacks the choice.
As Tripobox evolves, I am confident that these features will be added, and who knows, maybe mobile apps are already in work?
