Jean-Michel Jarre Flies in KleinVision’s AirCar

Jean-Michel Jarre with the AirCar

In the lead-up to the Starmus Opening Concert, which will feature Sir Brian May of Queen, electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre became the first passenger in the world to take flight in KleinVision’s flying AirCar.

As a giant leap towards a world where flying and driving are one and the same, the flights in Piestany, Slovakia, were a watershed event.

Jean-Michel Jarre is world’s first passenger to take off in KleinVision’s flying AirCar

Earlier this month, electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre was the first passenger on KleinVision’s AirCar, which sailed into the sky, marking the beginning of a new age in transportation innovation.

Apollo 11’s Emmy-winning director, Todd Douglas Miller, recorded the momentous event as the AirCar was flying at 2500 feet and described the experience:

It looks impossible. It looks like it’s doing something it should not be doing!” Miller remarked, highlighting the groundbreaking nature of AirCar.

Since receiving the Certificate of Airworthiness in January 2022, AirCar has accomplished an astounding 130 flying hours and more than 520 takeoffs.

It is like being in a Jules Verne book, but for real! One second you speak to the driver, and next, you are up there in the air – an amazing experience!

Marvelling at the futuristic experience, the artist couldn’t contain his enthusiasm. It perfectly echoes the subject of his forthcoming Starmus inaugural show (May 12, 2024), ‘The Bridge from the Future,’ which is powered by ESET, the world’s leading digital security provider.

AirCar addition to Starmus is a fantastic complement to our festival experience. It mirrors the exhilarating journey we embark on, starting with Jean-Michel and Brian’s monumental concert that propels us to new heights, soaring alongside artists and inspiring thinkers like Jane Goodall, and coming back to Earth with the wisdom of astronaut Chris Hadfield once the festival concludes.

With AirCar performing at both the Starmus inaugural performance and Starmus Camp, Bratislava will be transformed into the scientific capital of the globe. Other events during Starmus Camp include the Stephen Hawking Medal Ceremony and talks by nine Nobel laureates.
