Coming to Mogilev, Belarus the “Kamennaya Skazka” (“Stone Fairy Tale”) reveals artists and architects from six countries to a themed event beginning May 3o. “World. Beauty. Harmony.” This year’s event will also feature representatives from Mogilev’s twin cities of Yekaterinburg and Syktyvkar.

According to the press from the organizers, ten talented masters from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Ukraine, Belarus and Russia will take part in this forum. Sculptors are to create on an open air platform near the Kosmos cinema house, the news release suggests. A granite boulder there, brought in from Minsk Oblast, will be a collective work in process dedicated to love and maternity.

Mogilev will also host a master class for young architects from the CIS countries. The CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund, a sponsor of the project, has invited talented architects from various countries to the oblast center on 14-16 June festivities. Also, lecturers from renowned architects to artists are expected, in particular the famous Italian sculptor Fabio Panzeri.

The very first stone sculpture plein air was held in Mogilev back in 2003, with the first works dedicated to design in the urban environment. Revived after nine years, the plein air is part of the initiatives arising from Mogilev being named the CIS and Belarus’ Capital of Culture for 2013.

The organizers of the forum are the Architecture and Urban Planning Department of the Mogilev City Hall and the Cultural Department of the Mogilev City Hall.
