Porto Palace Hotel Thessaloniki Receives Green Key Sustainability Label

The luxurious Porto Palace Hotel Thessaloniki has received the eco-friendly “Green Key” international environmental label for the hotel’s efforts at sustainable operation.

The leading environmental responsibility label in the industry, the Green Key was created in recognizes of industry leaders using eco-friendly technologies and sustainable operation methods in order to achieve maximum resource efficiency; raise awareness among guests, staff, and suppliers; and change the behavior of all parties involved in the hospitality industry. The management of Porto Palace Hotel offered this via the announcement of the award:

“Our Greek Key officially proves the hotel’s course towards sustainability and its commitment to the benefits of green energy in the hospitality sector.”

The Porto Palace Hotel Thessaloniki took the coveted Green Key based on the hotel’s the use of energy saving bulbs, for the installation of automated power supply systems in rooms and photocells in public areas, for its collection and recycling of wastewater, and the creation of a special point for the collection of recyclable batteries, for the use of certified, environmentally friendly detergents, and other sustainable practices. The hotel’s management went on to comment:

“Porto Palace has placed people, the environment and local community at the center of its activities… It has adopted a policy that reflects the management’s commitment to all critical environmental aspects including energy, water, waste, and nutrition.”

Established by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), the Green Key program is coordinated in Greece by the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature.
