Heraklion Piano Festival at its 4th Edition

A local tradition since its inception in 2016, the Heraklion Piano Festival lines up an impressive roster of domestic and international talent at its 4th edition in 2020.

Taking place at the new Cultural Center of Heraklion (Leof. Plastira 49), not far from the Venetian City Wall and the gravesite of Greek writer Nikos Kazantzakis, the festival intends to promote classical music and to give new and established pianists a forum to demonstrate their virtuosity to the public and to meet with peers and music lovers from all over the world.

The Heraklion Piano Festival commenced its 4th edition schedule in February 2020, with Charalampos Aggelopoulos and Titos Gouvelis performing Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125 in “a different way.” Four Greek pianists – Dimitris Karydis, Petros Moschos, Michalis Aggelakis, Nikos Stavlas performed together Saturday, February 22. The festival continued on Sunday, February 23 with a 12-hour tribute to Ludwig van Beethoven on his 250th birthday anniversary.

Music lovers can still attend the Heraklion Piano Festival, which goes on tour.

Upcoming Heraklion Piano Festival Events in 2020

Tomorrow, February 28, at the Pantelis Prevelakis Hall at the Rethymno Odeon (Emmanoil Vernardoy 2), pianists Dimitris Karydis and Petros Moschos will perform the concert “Dances of the World for Four Hands.” The entrance is free and the concert starts at 8:00 p.m.

On Sunday, April 5 (8:00 p.m.), the festival goes to Archanes, at the old school of the village, where soprano Myrsini Margariti and pianist Dimitris Giakas will enchant audiences with a Journey Through Operetta and Musical.

The festival returns to Heraklion Wednesday, May 20 at 8:00 p.m. with an extraordinary piano recital featuring French-Cypriot virtuoso Cyprien Katsaris. The concert

The last day of the festival, Saturday, May 23 at 8:00 p.m. will feature students of Cyprien Katsaris in a piano recital at the Municipality Hall of Peza.
