Gogobot Integrates Facebook and Foursquare Check-Ins

You have probably seen them on various websites and even found enjoyment clicking as many as you could, but after the thrill of clicking wears off, it is not exactly clear what purpose Facebook and Foursquare check-ins serve.  Gogobot hopes to change that with its check-in integration for user passport profiles.

It works rather simply, any time you “check-in” at a restaurant, hotel, or other travel spot and use the location based services from either Facebook or Foursquare, those check-ins will appear in your Gogobot passport as places you have visited.  This makes it much easier to share your travel experiences with your friends.

“Check-ins mostly have been a quick and fleeting experience,” says Travis Katz, Gogobot co-founder and CEO. “We’re giving meaning and context to this whole game of checking in.”

Obviously, this will instantly give you more “visited places” in your Gogobot passport since it is combining your check-ins with any places you have entered manually.  You can also add pictures of your experiences just like you would for regular entries.  Furthermore, if you decide to leave off the exotic dance club in Thailand you checked into last night, you have the option to delete check-ins as well.

It all works seamlessly, thanks to the “sophisticated algorithm” Gogobot developed to interact with Foursquare and Facebook APIs that sifts through check-ins that do not fit normal travel profiles.

In order for any of this to work, Gogobot needs your permission.  You can go to your Gogobot account settings and link any accounts you want to register your check-ins.  If you signed into Gogobot using Facebook Connect, it will automatically ask you for permission to use your check-ins.
