Gay European Tourism Association (GETA) Taps Grayling for PR

Organized back in 2011, GETA promotes gay travel across Europe. The organization has announced having named Grayling as their PR agency of record (AOR). According to the news from PR Week, the Grayling agency will support Gaywelcome, promote GETA globally, and advertise across social media and elsewhere for businesses wanting to reach LGBT tourists.

Carlos Kytka, who is executive director at GETA, made this comment via the Grayling press:

“It isn’t about painting your hotel pink and waving a few rainbow flags; it’s about making small changes to established processes and services to make gay people feel truly welcome. We have a number of campaigns planned for the coming months, with some exciting partners. Our aim is to make travel in Europe a diverse and inclusive experience and to help our members provide, and the LGBT public enjoy, a great travel experience.”

GETA’s stated goal is to help businesses tap into the multi-billion euro gay and lesbian travel market. The organization offers advice on engaging the LGBT community of travelers, as well as how to ramp up services for the community as a value proposition. The Gaywelcome website is ostensibly Europe’s most visited LGBT hub for travelers.

Partially nude men on the cover, despite the obvious advertisement, does not somehow equate to massive visitation given the site 600 something thousand Alexa rating. Perhaps Grayling’s SEO, social media, and advertising departments can boost traffic there?
