Geneva, a place “that brings the world together,” is one of the most beautiful destinations in Europe, a cradle of culture, art, and pure luxury. It is renowned as a business center, but it is also a romantic city, where nature, architecture and art blend to create the perfect ambiance for any type of vacation.

If you are looking for adventure, Geneva has it: its Mont-Salève is perfect for rock-climbing, mountain biking and paragliding in the warmer seasons, or snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in Winter. The lakefront, with its iconic Jet d’Eau, is home to one of the most beautiful marinas in the world, and opens a world of opportunities to those who want to enjoy the cityscape from the water. For those who would rather relax by the water, the Reposoir Beach offers the perfect environment.

Still in touch with nature, the Flower Clock displays about 6,500 flowers and plants, and shows the time with Swiss precision. Switzerland’s largest Natural History Museum, Muséum d’histoire naturelle is in Geneva too, welcoming more than 250,000 visitors each year. Even Geneva’s countryside has something special for everyone: wine connoisseurs will enjoy the Genevan wine route in Dardagny, a winding walk through vineyards, the village and its surroundings. Also, don’t miss the Alpine Garden in Meyrin, renowned for its magnificent collections of living plants and 110 rock formations.

When it comes to culture and entertainment, few cities have a richer legacy than Geneva. It would take forever to mention everything worthwhile in this magnificent city. The best is to discover it with the help of a local, just like the promotional video below suggests.

This video is part of an extensive marketing campaign by Geneva Tourism, which started in 2012, and still goes on strong this year. The Europe’s Leading City Break Destination 2014 award by WTA is a crowning moment for Geneva Tourism, a recognition of their efforts:

“Our city has always been synonymous with business – but we are firmly convinced that Geneva is a very attractive leisure destination as well,” comments Vincent Dubi, Marketing Director at Geneva Tourism. Since 2012, Geneva Tourism has developed customized packages for their visitors – including the “Geneva Amazing Experiences” – a globally unique concept that is segmented by market and matches city breakers needs. “From their first visit to the Geneva Tourism website, where you will find customized and unique weekend packages, to their first steps in the city, where they can easily collect bespoke pocket maps, city breakers will instantly feel welcomed in Geneva,” explains Vincent Dubi.

For first time visitors to Geneva, as well as for its faithful fans, the official Geneva Tourism website has extensive information on sights, attractions, landmarks, events and cultural activities.
