Moscow’s Fast Food Restaurants Are Hip and Healthy

Good bye McDonalds and the like, hello Healthy Food! Yes, Healthy Food, because this is the name of a fast food chain with branches in Moscow. And is it possible at all to have healthy fast-food? Well, the following five protagonists in Moscow prove that you can have even more.

Healthy Food is a chain, but you can find one of its branches at Paveletskaya Square 2. Everything they serve here is made from scratch, without the use of frozen convenience foods. They have a variety of soups, salads, pies, sandwiches, pancakes, cheesecakes and vitamin desserts available to eat inside the café, or as takeaway.

On to Hudson Deli, this fast-food place promises everything fresh for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will find the “first progressive fast food in Moscow” at the Presnenskaya embankment, 8/1. The atmosphere here is a combination of a cozy cafe with a relaxed delicatessen counter. They are particularly famous for their shawarma and kebab specials, but there are many other international dishes to satisfy almost every palate.

Vokker (ul. Krymskiy Val, 9) is another trendy spot, popular for its Asian-style noodle soups. They have a variety of toppings for their noodle or rice dishes, to satisfy vegans, vegetarians, meat lovers and pescaterians.

Then, you have Fresh & Ko on Bolshoy Savvinskiy per. 12 – a salad bar at heart. But don’t worry, they also serve cooked meaty mains, wraps, soups, sandwiches, and desserts. They also offer a good range of seasonal, freshly pressed juices, made to order.

Last, but not least, for those looking for the “American-style” of fast food, MEATING Burgers & Salads will be a good choice. This fast food restaurant specializes in… well, what its name says, but don’t worry, although it is meat centric, the restaurant caters to vegetarians, although the choice is limited to a vegetarian chickpea burger. They serve breakfast till 13:00 and you can choose between omelette with bacon, or vegetarian omelette. Their soup specials change daily. A selection of tap beers and refreshments is available to pair with your meal.

These places have a significant advantage over traditional fast-foods, in that that they never use semi-prepared or frozen products. They count on fresh-from-the-market ingredients, and this shows in the quality of the food. What’s even more important is that they charge less than mainstream restaurants, for fine-dining restaurant-quality dishes. If you have other fast-food favorites in Moscow, please feel free to let us know in the comments.
