Fly.com Urges Travelers to Book Labor Day Flights Now

Research by Fly.com suggested that travelers should prepare for the Labor Day weekend well in advance, booking their flights before August 9, when bookings could cost travelers an additional 30% or more. Labor Day is on Monday, September 1, 2014.

Past booking data for Labor Day weekend flights, revealed the prices for tickets increased by as much as $174 between Aug. 1, 2013, and Aug. 22, 2013. Travelers still have time to save, if they book prior to August 9, Fly.com suggested, basing this statement on data from 2013, which shows prices going up and down +/-10%.

“It is not unusual for airlines to bump up their prices to capitalize on last-minute bookings,” said Warren Chang, vice president and general manager, Fly.com. “Waiting to book flights for Labor Day travel can come with a hefty price tag. Our latest study shows that Americans should try to book their holiday flights before August 9th of this year.”

Fly.com urged travelers to use www.fly.com/laborday or Fly.com Fare Calendars to identify the cheapest days to fly and too book their tickets before the airlines bump up the prices.
