News from the blog of Icelandic carrier WOW Air tells of the company having acquired competitor Iceland Express. WOW will be running the show at Iceland Express immediately, according to their news.
WOW Air’s blog post here, lets customers know there will be no disruption in services who have previously booked via Iceland Express, and that all obligations of Iceland will be honored by WOW. They also make clear that the deal is not a merger, but instead a full takeover of Iceland Express. Wow Air president Skúli Mogensen, offered this via the post:
“We are extremely happy with the acquisition and offer Iceland Express passengers a warm welcome aboard. Iceland Express has been a pioneering low-fares airline in Iceland and was the country’s most punctual airline this summer. We will immediately be able to greatly increase our frequency to and from London and Copenhagen, and also provide more capacity and new destinations next summer.”
All parties concerned expect a smooth transition to take place, and WOW is to begin offering more flights to London, Copenhagen, and Berlin, as well as Salzburg for the ski season.
