Wizz Air Announces New City Connects

Travelers headed from Budapest to Sofia will be able to book Wizz Air flights starting November 1st. According to news from the airline, the new service will connect the two capitals three days a week.

Wizz Air currently offers budget flights from Budapest to some 48 destinations in 23 countries. From Sophia, the airline connects with 29 destinations and 15 countries. The airline also reports planned expansion of its fleet to meet the added demand including, six more aircraft in March, and ten more later this summer.

The number of passengers Wizz Air ferried in 2015 grew by some 22 per cent, up from 19.2 million from 15.8 million in 2014. The airline reports Bulgaria and Hungary airports as having been two of their busiest routes.

Other new routes from Sofia include Cologne, Naples, Bari, Geneva, Munich Memmingen, Alicante, Hamburg/Lubeck, Bristol, Oslo, and Birmingham. As for Budapest, new routes include Reykjavik, Glasgow, Liverpool, Ibiza, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, Baku and Nice.

Wizz Air also announced three special flight packages from Budapest to Bordeaux, Lyon and Marseille in June for fans of the Hungarian national football team playing in the European championship tournament.
