The Vienna Tourism Board recently invited representatives of the tourism industry to an advisory summit to discuss a developmental strategy for international tourism building. Out of those discussions, a new concept was developed to “crowd-source” Vienna strategies. An “open innovation” competition to seek the best and brightest ideas for the city’s tourism, seeks out unconventional, fresh, and new ideas to fast forward destination Vienna. Director of Tourism Norbert Kettner, had this to say about destination Vienna going forward:

“The new long-term strategy for Vienna’s destination development is based on the theme ‘Global.Smart.Premium’. Vienna is consolidating its status as a cosmopolitan metropolis and economic hub of Central Europe, and profiling itself through its living culture of sustainability, sophisticated urban technologies, intelligent mobility solutions and its high standards as a green city – as a ‘smart and glamorous city’.”
